Beth : Salut, Martin. Comment ça s'est passé à l'école ?

Beth: Hi Martin. How was school?

Martin : Oh, c'était génial ! La leçon d'histoire était très intéressante.

Martin: Oh, it was great. The history lesson was very interesting.

Beth : Vraiment ? Qu'as-tu appris ?

Beth: Really? What did you learn?

Martin : Nous avons vu le "grand incendie de Londres". Il a détruit les quatre cinquièmes de Londres en 1666.

Martin: We learned about the "Great Fire of London". It destroyed four fifths of London in 1666.

Beth : C'est épouvantable !

Beth: That's horrible!

Martin : En réalité, il a sauvé plus de vies qu'il n'en a emporté.

Martin: It actually saved more people's lives that it killed.

Beth : Comment est-ce possible ?

Beth: How is that possible?

Martin : Le feu a tué un grand nombre de rats qui transmettaient la peste. Le nombre de victimes de la peste a rapidement chuté après l'incendie.

Martin: The fire killed a lot of rats which helped to transmit the plague. Plague victims dropped rapidly after the fire.

Beth : C'est intéressant. Tu apprends beaucoup de choses à l'école !

Beth: That's interesting. You learn a lot in school!

Martin : Oui !

Martin: Yes, I do!
